Raw Foods Diet: Day 21
Well, I am three weeks in! You know what that means… charts and data analysis! Whoopee!

I have certainly learned a lot while on this diet. Not only about raw, living, or whole foods, but also about myself. I have made a few mistakes, and frankly, I’m glad I did. That is how you learn, by making mistakes. There were some definite ups and downs, and frankly, I don’t know whether or not I will continue this diet. One thing I do know, is that the way I look at, and value, nutrition, has changed forever.

Avoid fruit and nuts. You are what you eat.

Raw Foods Diet: Day 20
Two thirds of the way done. At this point, I am just really trying to see if I can actually gain any weight. This diet does not make it easy to gain weight, as you already have to eat so much food. Oddly enough, I still am not really sick of the taste of the fruits. Yesterday, I was a bit rash, and while I could see this diet working for a lot of people, I don’t know if I can psychologically deal with it at this point. Regardless, I carry on, in a quest to make it the full 30 days.

Raw Foods Diet: Day 19
Today was not a very good day. For the first time in the entire trial, I was really looking forward to it being over. There are now numerous reasons that I do not want to be eating raw foods. Be warned, this isn’t going to be pretty.

I miss eating meat. Yes, that is right. On top of that, I actually miss the cooking process. I don’t like how my energy comes and goes. I hate how my whole diet can go awry very easily (lack of ripe bananas). I don’t like how hard it is for me to get this food without access to a car. I don’t like how much weight I am losing, and I imagine how extremely difficult it would be to gain weight on this diet. That has probably bothered me the most. I find myself not wanting to eat more, yet if I wanted to gain weight, I would have to eat three or four times the amount I have on some of the days where I already did eat a lot. I even hate how I have such an awful, small blender, and how I really wouldn’t be able to afford any of the more expensive ones.

I eat merely to put food out of my mind.

Raw Foods Diet: Day 18
Sleep was again a bit long. I woke up, and turned off my alarm clock. This is a habit I thought I was completely rid of, but I guess it hasn’t completely left yet. Is the magic of perfect sleep on a raw foods diet truly gone?

My sleeping pattern is now officially weird. I have no idea why I would need this much sleep. It’s ridiculous! (more…)

Raw Foods Diet: Day 16
Pretty good day. Not the best, not the worst. Not necessarily up nor down. I wouldn’t say I had a ton of energy, though. Also my sleeping tends to be getting a bit out of hand, as I am sleeping longer. I don’t think I need 8.5 to 9 hours of sleep. Does this mean I have to start using the alarm clock? I think I will at least for a little while.

Raw Foods Diet: Day 15
The official half way point! It feels good to feel good again! I went back to my normal activity levels today, although my sleeping schedule doesn’t seem to be as rock solid as it was before. I need to make more of an effort to get it back.

Raw Foods Diet: Day 14
Boy, that was a short entry yesterday, and looking back on it, I’m pretty sure I knew why.

I felt terrible! I just felt like doing nothing at all, and that is exactly what I did. I barely felt like moving. Very sluggish, very tired, had a very cloudy mind. I probably slept longer than I should have, and I did no mental or physical activity whatsoever.

I blame all of this on what I had eaten yesterday. While delicious, my body completely rejected it and practically shut down! What a great way of ending the second week. Oh well, no matter, I have lots of pretty charts and data for you to look at!

Raw Foods Diet: Day 13
I feel as if the worst is over in regards to any detoxification symptoms. My canker sore is going away, with the help of the topical treatment, and everything is going well. I slept a little longer than usual today (8.5 hours) but I’m assuming my body needed the extra rest.

Raw Foods Diet: Day 12
Alright, so things seem to be getting better. I’m waking up with more moisture and I feel as if the detoxification symptoms are on their way out. The one absolutely stable thing throughout this entire trial has been my sleeping schedule. I can’t tell you how absolutely awful it was before, but I can try.

Some nights, I would wake up at 9 P.M. Others, I would wake up at 2 A.M. What about 12 P.M.? Yep. The problem was that I had no schedule. Each and every night it would change wildly, like I had no circadian rhythm whatsoever. I tried everything from different herbs, different forms of exercise, being outside for great lengths of time, to even abusing things like NyQuil and caffeine to give me some sort of structure. So the fact that I now have a regular sleeping schedule, that is extremely firm, is a God send. It makes this whole trial worth doing.
