Raw Foods Diet: Day 12
Alright, so things seem to be getting better. I’m waking up with more moisture and I feel as if the detoxification symptoms are on their way out. The one absolutely stable thing throughout this entire trial has been my sleeping schedule. I can’t tell you how absolutely awful it was before, but I can try.
Some nights, I would wake up at 9 P.M. Others, I would wake up at 2 A.M. What about 12 P.M.? Yep. The problem was that I had no schedule. Each and every night it would change wildly, like I had no circadian rhythm whatsoever. I tried everything from different herbs, different forms of exercise, being outside for great lengths of time, to even abusing things like NyQuil and caffeine to give me some sort of structure. So the fact that I now have a regular sleeping schedule, that is extremely firm, is a God send. It makes this whole trial worth doing.
Mind
I was blessed with some creativity today! I had lots of ideas for poems, future articles, things I’d like to do in the future, and much, much more. I don’t know whether to attribute it to the diet, the Morning Page I have been doing, or both! I definitely feel as if the creative “juices” are flowing, no pun intended.
Body
Food Eaten
Meal 1
A smoothie consisting of: 3 bananas, 2 pineapple slices, 1 orange
Meal 2
1 banana, 1 orange, and 1 apple
Meal 3
1 banana and 1 pineapple slice
Meal 4
2 bananas, 1 pineapple slice, 1 small apple, 1 apple
Meal 5
A smoothie consisting of: 1 handful of baby romaine, 1 handful of baby spinach, 3 bananas, 1 orange
Meal 6
Lots of iceberg lettuce – This is where I somehow thought I could just eat a whole head of lettuce without any dressing or anything else added to it. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just take bites out of it and consume the whole thing? I got bored with it pretty quickly, but did eat a good amount.
Overall
So, I’ve made a few changes thanks to all the lovely comments I have been receiving.
I do think the dryness has something to do with the raw foods diet, but I have started to increase my water intake as I probably was a bit dehydrated.
As far as the canker sore goes, I caved and got an herbal topical treatment at Whole Foods. I wanted to let it heal on its own, but it was getting quite bad. Once I used this stuff though, absolutely instantaneous relief. Hooray! I’m sure it will get all better now, and everything will be right with the world.
Also, I am going to recommend that everyone watch this video. Yes, it is long, coming in at 55 minutes, but it is well worth it. It’s Dr. Douglas Graham giving a talk about his recommended diet (the 80/10/10), sports nutrition/performance, and size 28 shoes. He even talks about water consumption, and the objectivity and subjectivity behind it!
