Plethora of Fruit - Raw Foods Diet: Day 19

Raw Foods Diet: Day 19
Today was not a very good day. For the first time in the entire trial, I was really looking forward to it being over. There are now numerous reasons that I do not want to be eating raw foods. Be warned, this isn’t going to be pretty.

I miss eating meat. Yes, that is right. On top of that, I actually miss the cooking process. I don’t like how my energy comes and goes. I hate how my whole diet can go awry very easily (lack of ripe bananas). I don’t like how hard it is for me to get this food without access to a car. I don’t like how much weight I am losing, and I imagine how extremely difficult it would be to gain weight on this diet. That has probably bothered me the most. I find myself not wanting to eat more, yet if I wanted to gain weight, I would have to eat three or four times the amount I have on some of the days where I already did eat a lot. I even hate how I have such an awful, small blender, and how I really wouldn’t be able to afford any of the more expensive ones.

Mind
Well, I did dream a lot, but you know why that is? It’s because I slept a lot, and I kept waking up. I can never remember always feeling so tired in the morning. I mean it makes sense if I didn’t get enough sleep, but not feeling refreshed after ANY amount of sleep is getting ridiculous.

Body

  • Weight: – 155.4 +/-: -2.0 today/-10.6 total
  • Blood Pressure: – 100/70 +/-: -1/-4 today/-21/-8 total
  • Body Temperature: – 98.0 +/-: +1.0 today/+1.0 total
  • Resting Heart Rate: – 58 +/-: -2 today/-10 total
  • Food Eaten
So PeaPod comes today, and all the bananas still are a little green. Ugh! I am forced to eat some anyway, but they all went in shakes. I couldn’t eat any “straight” as they are just too starchy for my taste. Indigestible starches! What is wrong with the produce community right now? It’s basically an entire conspiracy out to make me hate depending my diet on fruit. It’s far too risky, apparently, depending one’s diet entirely on whether or not fruit will be ripe enough to eat.

Why don’t I just eat more vegetables that day? I wouldn’t get enough calories.
What about other fruits? I am not made of money. The banana is perfect for me, and I still like the taste of it, even after all of this. There isn’t much fruit that I would still be okay with eating after 19 days of eating it all the time.

    Meal 1
A smoothie consisting of: 2 oranges, 10 strawberries, 20 blueberries, and 4 blackberries. This had no bananas, and it felt like it had no substance to it. I was not a big fan.

    Meal 2
A smoothie consisting of: 2 bananas, and 2 handfuls of spinach. This was good, but would have been much better if: one, the bananas were frozen, and two, they were fully ripe.

    Meal 3
A smoothie consisting of: 1 orange, 2 frozen bananas, 4 strawberries, and 20 blueberries. Ah. Like an old friend.

    Meal 4
    3 thick pineapple slices.

    Meal 5
A smoothie consisting of: 3 thick pineapple slices, 3 frozen bananas, 2 strawberries, and 2 handfuls of spinach. Adding these pineapple slices in meant I ate almost an entire pineapple.

    Overall
When I said I was looking forward to this trial being over, I wasn’t kidding. Part of me feels like I am wasting away. I can taste how the bananas aren’t ripe, even in the smoothies I made. Not good folks.

You know things are bad when you envy your own cat for the food it gets to eat.

Yes, it has been very hard– but remember how much you and all of us have learned from reading your progress.

This is going to end soon and then you can begin to cook again. Warm food will taste good with all the cold weather.

      Keep the faith.

      Rebecca,

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

      Deborah,

Actually, it has been warming up around here. What’s the weather like where you are?

the energy coming and going is one of the reasons that I started a slow carb diet. you dont have the spikes of energy that accompany the spikes in blood sugar from sweet foods. eating a diet that has more slowly metabolized carbs results in a steady amount of energy, no highs and no lows. yesterday I had a mountain dew and got thrown into such a sugar tizzy that I had to sit down and try to relax because it was so uncomfortable.
