Raw Foods Diet: Day 22
It felt like I slept in forever today. I got up at 8:30, but felt like I got up at 2 in the afternoon. That’s one plus of going to bed around 9:30-10:00 I guess. Still struggling with the sleeping schedule. I thought it was rock solid, but I am having some difficulty with it. If anyone has any advice, please let me know!
Mind
One odd thing that I have noticed happening is that while I haven’t been too consistent with early morning writing, I have been with going in the sauna. At first, I would write in the sauna, and while I do love that, I now found myself just going in there for roughly twenty minutes a day. I feel pretty great taking a shower afterwards.
Body
Food Eaten
Today I kept track of my calories and macro nutrient ratio. I weighed all the fruit I ate, and frankly, it was a lot easier than I thought. This is going to be something I continue to do until I feel that I know better how much my body needs.
Meal 1
1 banana
A smoothie consisting of: 4 bananas (1 frozen), and 100g baby spinach
Meal 2
2 bananas and 1 minneola orange. These are too bitter to eat. I should only put them in smoothies from now on.
Meal 3
(2) 279g banana
A smoothie consisting of: 104g pineapple, 55g blackberries, 114g strawberries, (4 [1 frozen]) 468g banana
Meal 4
(1) 134g banana
A smoothie consisting of: (4 [1 frozen]) 398g banana and 100g baby spinach
Meal 5
(1) 124g banana
Totals for the day were…
2,404 calories
551.5g Carbohydrates, 8.0g Fat, 31.6g Protein
Macro nutrient ratio: 92%/3%/5%
Overall
Today was a good day. I am guessing that is because I have decided to start counting calories, and today I ate over 2,000. While that isn’t the highest amount, I am sure there are days where I have eaten far less, so it’s good to get at least that in. In fact, I had no trouble at all eating that much. If only there was something similar to the banana in its awesomeness. Some other fruit, or vegetable, that I could eat quickly, consistently and without getting sick of it, and giving me a good amount of calories. It’s like the perfect fruit. All hail the mighty banana.

cant say that sleeping will ever become easier to do, at least the getting up part. but ive found that when i do a lot of exercise I actually sleep more soundly so when I wake up after even 6 hours I feel more refreshed. dont slack on the exercise too much.

also, it always helps if you have to get up for something, versus should get up. if you should get up then its not that you have to get up, so you could always sleep a little more which is why you prolly want to go back to sleep when you are getting up. if you have to get up, like for a job, or school, or because you are starting something new and the excitement forces you to get up, its much easier. since you dont have to get up for anything really. I would say think of something new to do that day that spikes your interest, something adventurous. a new workout. a new place to go check out. perhaps a new coffee shop or hiking path you wanna go to. having these things to look forward to always helps build somet excitement about the day and as soon as you open your eyes you think about it and it helps to get you out of bed. like a kid when you woke up on christmas morning, you shot straight up, at least i did, and then raced downstairs to see what was brought for you. that excitement can do wonders.

Hey hey to you Chris for going this long on the raw food diet. Your determination and dedication will get you whatever you desire in life.
All I can say is be very careful when you decide to add other foods to your diet.
I liked the creative blog about needing a reason to get up in the morning. Very interesting and an idea I will pass on to others.

Giant,
It WAS easier. And has been for me for different periods of time. Waking up groggy just means you interrupted a deep sleep phrase, and not an REM one. Timing has a big part with how you feel when you wake up. Oversleeping, and a pattern of it, definitely results in that.
Great idea about having something to wake up for though. I agree, I do find myself jumping out of bed, regardless of how tired I am, when I know I have a lot of fun things to do ahead of me.
Deborah,
Thanks! I agree. I am going to need to be careful.
