Raw Foods Diet: Day 23
Only one week to go! It’s the Final Countdown!
Mind
Did another morning page! I really want to develop that as a strong habit. It works wonders for one’s creativity.
Body
Food Eaten
I started out keeping track of the weight of the foods, but then I failed. I completely lost the list where I had written all the measurements down!! Still, I did eat a lot of bananas. Unfortunately, all my baby spinach has run out, which is no good. I shall have to try again tomorrow.
Meal 1
2 bananas
Meal 2
A smoothie consisting of 4 bananas (1 frozen), two chunks of pineapple, 1 orange, 3 strawberries.
Meal 3
2 bananas, 1 apple
Meal 4
2 bananas, 50g of blueberries. I remembered that amount!
Meal 5
1 1/4 bananas
Meal 7
A smoothie consisting of 4 bananas (1 frozen). That’s right. An all banana smoothie. Yes, it was delicious.
Overall
As you might have read, today I ran out of baby spinach. It’s insane how much of that stuff I can go through. I could probably eat a pound of that a day in smoothies and not even notice. Yesterday I ate just about half a pound.
The more I learn about this diet, the more I am convinced you really can’t gain much weight on it. There is very little evidence pointing otherwise. All of the supposedly “big” raw food vegans don’t use much nutritional evidence to support their claims. I don’t believe it is normal, or really possible, to gain a lot of physical strength on this diet. I’m not entirely sure maintenance is possible. Losing weight is sure easy, but I’m not convinced of its other applications.
What seems to be a constant, in probably all alternative ways of eating, is fanaticism. This is what I have witnessed thus far with my research into the raw foods vegan lifestyle. People supporting it without really understanding why, or just listening to the gospel of others. I’d like for the raw foods diet to be able to achieve miracles, but right now, I don’t think it can. I wouldn’t even call this a bad day either, but with my understanding of biochemistry, I just don’t see how I could make the raw foods diet work for me as a permanent solution.

ah yes, i like the little insert on biochemistry. how do you think that the raw foods diet plays into the lipolytic process, i.e. do you think that it causes a greater amount of BAT and WAT to be metabolized as a result of the diet. also, do you think that protein also plays a part in the metabolic machine? by the protein playing a part do you think that you are burning muscle too? after this, what type of diet do you think you will stick too on an everyday basis or are you going to do more research before making a decision?

Are you going on to another way of eating, or do you want to take a break for awhile? This site has been very educational for me. Keep up your great writing. Looking forward to your next endeavor.

What’s next after the trial? I would love to see the affects that a complete change would do. How about only pizza for 30 days? The Lou Malnati’s diet.

Giant,
Well, for the lipolytic process to happen, your body needs to go through the glucose reserves first. Interesting that this diet gives you quite a lot of glucose. I wonder how that would apply to increasing the reserve. Logically, it would point to your body not needing to burn as much fat, but I’m not sure of the specifics.
As far as BAT and WAT, I’m not sure it would favor one or the other. You want BAT to uptake fat, to burn it, but this diet is very little in fat, so maybe that says something as well.
Deborah,
I will probably take a break for awhile before I fully decide on what I will do. I am thinking of trying the idea of cycling carbohydrates. Thanks!
Rebecca,
Hah! I think my body might reject that. It does sound delicious though!!
