Raw Foods Diet: Day 24
I have definitely begun to count down to Day 30, but it still seems like quite a ways away. I know that probably isn’t going to make it feel like it is coming any quicker…
Oddly enough, I find no information on the Internet about how to successfully transition off of a raw foods diet. Is it possible? The only personal experiences I have found have been unsuccessful, so I hope this doesn’t foreshadow anything. I’m thinking that taking it carefully is the only way to go.
Mind
I have not been dreaming as much, but the trade off has been interesting, as my sleep has been better. By that of course I mean that it has not been as long, and I am waking up without as much trouble. I also did my morning writing outside today, actually near the lake. It was a bit of trouble getting there, but it was very serene and beautiful.
Body
Food Eaten
Still no veggies. My refrigerator is looking barren. I find it difficult going to the grocery store more than once a week, and I seem not to be able to live off that on this kind of diet. So, alas, I am stuck. Didn’t eat enough, but that’s hard to do when you don’t have much food left.
Meal 1
A smoothie consisting of: (4 [1 frozen]) 428g banana, 81g pineapple, 99g blackberries, 24g blueberries
Meal 2
(2) 274g banana
Meal 3
(1) 179g apple
Meal 4
(1) 214g apple
Meal 5
(2) 251g banana
Meal 6
(1) 133g banana
Totals for the day were…
1,405 calories
325.5g Carbohydrates, 4.9g Fat, 14.9g Protein
Macro nutrient ratio: 92%/3%/5%
What’s weird, is this was the EXACT same macro nutrient breakdown as two days ago, only I hate 1,000 fewer calories.
Overall
It was a pretty good day. I got a lot of interesting ideas, and an idea for a new challenge. I would keep the next month’s challenge off of the front page, but still available on the main site. I really love the idea that I can use this blog to better myself! So far, the discipline I have learned from this trial has made it extremely worthwhile, and I plan on using this 30 days tool for a few other interesting and self-challenging adventures.
I’m still not sure as to what my diet will consist of after this challenge. Possibly something extremely different, just to spice things up. It will be interesting to see what the blood results show.

damn, so you ate less than 2000 calories yesterday. based on what you have calculated your caloric intake was for the two days you did it, what do you think your average daily intake was throughout the 30 days?

Perhaps you should eat baby foods at first. Very easy on the stomach.

Writing by the lake seems like a wonderful idea. I find water very relaxing.
I can’t believe it’s almost over, this has been so educational tracking your progress. I can’t wait for the next idea.

When I have transitioned back I did it by still eating a large quantity of raw fruits and veggies through most of the day and then eating a light cooked meal (like veggie soup or something) at night. It only took a few days before I was back to eating my more normal diet.
Hope this helps.

Giant,
I think my average intake was pretty low. However, I don’t feel I lost any muscle mass as none of my lifts have gone down, and my weight lost could be accounted for by lost fat and lost water weight easily.
Deborah,
Baby foods is a great idea. Thanks!
Rebecca,
I also find water very relaxing. It is calm and serene. I try to get my mind to be like water. Adapting to its surroundings and reflecting its inner self.
Giant,
It definitely is genius. Can’t eat it for too long though, as I’d be lacking in nutrients, but to help me ease off, I will definitely try it.
Adrienne,
Thanks for commenting! I’m glad you decided to join in!!
How did you divide that up, between the fruit and vegetables that were uncooked, and your regular cooked food? Did you stay away from certain foods until the few days were up? Did you find the taste to be any different?
It helps a ton! There is VERY LITTLE information on people transitioning off of a raw foods diet. I have yet to find any successful accounts, except yours! Thanks again!
