Raw Foods Diet: Day 6
My sleeping schedule is finally secured! Hooray! There’s only one problem… I go to bed at 8 at night! That seems to be really just too early for me, and I wonder if this could be the result of some of my sluggish problems: the fact that when I wake up it will still be dark for quite some time. I am going to try to will myself to stay up a bit later, so that I can try to see what it is like to consistently wake up at 5 in the morning. Coming from an insomniac and a night owl, this is pretty great so far!

Mind
Another mentally tiring day. I barely finished my morning pages, had no dreams whatsoever, and just felt like blah mentally. Yes, “blah”, you heard right. Maybe the effects are still present as my vocabulary seems to be a bit lacking.

Body

  • Weight: – 162.2 +/-: -1.0 today/-3.8 total
  • Blood Pressure: – 109/77 +/-: +4/-2 today/-12/-1 total
  • Body Temperature (two averages): – 97.7 +/-: -0.2 today/+0.7 total
  • Resting Heart Rate (three averages): – 70 +/-: -7 today/+2 total
  • Food Eaten

I need more vegetables, but, I know I can’t go crazy on them. This is definitely a fruit-dominated diet, but I need to get back to my banana and baby spinach smoothies. Yum!

    Meal 1
    3 bananas and a smoothie of: 2 bananas, 2 strawberries, 1 tangelo

    Meal 2
    1 banana, 1 small apple, 1 tangelo

    Meal 3
2 bananas, 2 tangelos, and a smoothie of: 1 tangelo, 2 strawberries, 2 bananas, and 2 small apples

    Meal 4
    1 banana

    Meal 5
    1 banana

    Overall
Almost a week in the bucket! Thus far, I haven’t been as challenged as I thought I was, but I have to remember, that I did a week long trial of this previously, and I find it pretty easy. In fact, it was easier that time around!

Probably the most interesting thing that happened to note today was the fact that I had a “euphoric” moment. I was walking to my piano lesson, and found myself a bit early. So, I stopped into this small chapel across the street and was completely alone. I began to meditate and it wasn’t long before a wave of euphoria hit. It was fleeting, yet it was extremely pronounced. I can’t remember a time I felt so good. I couldn’t stop smiling for quite awhile!

May you have many of these moments like in the Chapel.

I just had a thought about the raw foods diet. There seems to be a complete lack of protein. I am missing something? Perhaps you use nuts or something else as a protein source?

Maybe while in the chapel; meditating, you experienced a divine presence. That would explain the euphoric feeling. Did you also feel calm and strangely at peace, at least for a little while?

      Interesting blog

      Jim,

Thanks for the comment. I hope you enjoy your stay here!

      Mad Dog,

This is the controversial part, which is also why I am doing so much testing. Will this diet be enough to sustain me? Many animals, including our close relatives, eat a diet that, under ideal conditions, is mostly fruit. Many different tribes and communities around the world get a very small amount of protein, and according to the Max Planck Institute, 25 grams of protein is more than enough. Is all of this true? Who knows, but I aim to find out. I have far from experienced ANY signs of protein deficiency yet. Quite the opposite thus far.

I’m not so sure it was a divine presence; in fact, I am confident it came from something inside me. The question is, was it related to the diet at all, or strictly a result of meditating and enjoying the moment?

      really interesting blog today!

8pm is pretty early to be going to bed..but it certainly is an improvement from your past sleep schedule! I’m interested about the euphoric moment that came over you – aren’t they the best? lol. That’s such a wonderful feeling, I’m glad you couldn’t wipe the smile off your face.

    5. Mad Dog Says:

What are the signs of protein deficiency, anyway?

In my experience, an epiphany, such as yours would always emanate from within.

But, you did not answer my question: along with a feeling of euphoria, did you also experience a feeling of supreme calmness and/or a sudden sense of contentment or peace?

    6. Giant Says:

I love those euphoric moments, as long as it wasnt accompanied by a lightheadedness, cause then maybe you just stood up to fast. glad to see that some veggies are making their way in. also, i like how your heart rate dropped today, that is a good sign of being overall healthier and calmer. rock on dude!

    7. Rebecca Says:

That euphoria is a wonderful feeling. I feel that in certain moments of utter peace, for me, in nature, or near the water. I have felt in at times when I could see with certainty the path I was to follow. It’s almost a great relief, that moments like that exist. However you label the voice that inspires you and draws you to your true path, it is there if you listen.

      Kate,

Thanks for the comment! My sleep schedule has dramatically improved, let’s hope it stays this way.

      Mad Dog,

Things like impaired wound healing, general fatigue, a lot of fluid retention, etc.

I wouldn’t say I got supreme calmness afterwards. It wasn’t like I got enlightened or anything like that. What would it mean if I DID experience that though?

      Giant,

Hahah! No, there wasn’t any lightheaded-ness, but I appreciate your concern. I’m working my way up on the veggies. It will be a fruit dominated diet though for sure although.

      Rebecca,

This was a beautiful comment, thanks for it. “However you label the voice that inspires you and draws you to your true path, it is there if you listen.” Very, very true.
